Twin Rainbows Housing Cooperative

We are an 86-unit housing co-op located in Vancouver’s South West False Creek, near the seawall and Granville Island.

In gratitude and solidarity with Indigenous peoples, their ancestors, and their lands, we acknowledge that the Twin Rainbows Housing Cooperative is settled on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We reside within the ancestral village called Sen̓áḵw in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish language), sən̓aʔqʷ in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (Musqueam language), or Sen̓áḵw (the head of the False Creek).

About Us

Twin Rainbows Housing Co-operative first opened its doors in 1981. It is a non-profit organization and member of Co-operative Housing Federation of BC.

Our mission

We aim to provide secure, affordable, well-maintained housing to a diverse community based on sound management, respect and participation.

Our community

Twin Rainbows is a diverse, mixed income community made up of singles, couples, and families of all ages and backgrounds. We operate soundly on the principles of member participation and cooperation; we are a community run by its members, the people who live here.

Our housing

Twin Rainbows has 86 units divided evenly between two seven-story apartment style buildings. Our units range from one and two-bedroom terrace-style apartments, to two and three-bedroom townhouses with enclosed backyards. Our waitlist is currently closed.

Our participation

Co-operative housing offers an alternative way of life to home ownership and regular apartment living. Like other co-ops, Twin Rainbows is governed and managed by its members, presenting a unique opportunity and challenge for individuals to be directly involved in shaping the place where they live. This requires the dedication and participation of all in order to keep our community strong, healthy, and well run.

Twin Rainbows is governed by a board of directors elected annually by its members, which works in tandem with its committees and the general membership on all concerns affecting the operation of the co-op. Participation at Twin Rainbows is mandatory, and there are many volunteer opportunities to get involved in the day-to-day management of the community.
